Some may start doing makeup by just guessing where things go and take it from there. But others like me started by watching others. First I started by watching my mother put on makeup, and then sure enough I got into it very quickly and started looking up Youtube tutorials on how to do makeup.
One thing for sure is that makeup is a process and it takes time as well as patience. Later on I found other makeup artists who quite literally increased the makeup game, SFX makeup creators. Finding these channels on Youtube peaked my interest into a whole different genre of makeup, and I hope you take a chance to look at them too.

Glam and Gore
Although she has not been active as of recent, she has a plethora of different videos that you can follow along with. Glam and Gore was the first SFX channel that I stumbled upon when I first became interested in SFX makeup. She has easy tutorials to follow as well as more complicated ones where you might need more SFX products.
She also has different content to follow as well if SFX is not your thing, hence her name Glam and Gore. Along with just simple makeup tutorials she also has vlogs as well as commentary videos. Every holiday she has a different makeup look planned out, a couple years ago she did an iconic Grinch SFX look and the year before she was Krampus.

2.) elimacs sfx makeup
Also not active as of recent, but this SFX makeup duo have been posting SFX makeup tutorials for over 8 years. A lot of their content seems difficult to do but they make it easy to follow along. They also have a lot of smaller things that are easier to do such as a busted lip or scars and scabs. They even have some cosplay tutorials if you would like to know how to make costumes as well.

3.) Madeyewlook
Very active on Facebook, this SFX creator focuses on face and body painting. If you don't like applying latex or scar wax on your face, maybe you'll be more into doing some serious painting. My personal opinion is that painting is a lot more difficult to do or get a handle of since sometimes you have to be precise. But this creator doesn't necessarily focus on the tutorial aspects, so make sure you pay attention. She also has commentary videos as well as specific videos meant to help others who want to learn.

4.) Karolina Maria
If you are looking for some easy SFX to start with, I 100% recommend this You-tuber to get a good idea of what you might want to do. A lot of her videos are simple and easy to follow along, and not too complicated for a beginner. Similar to Glam and Gore, she also has regular makeup tutorials and other commentary videos to watch if that is your cup of tea. She is not SFX primarily, but I find that she does very well with showing how to get simple wounds like a cut or bruising.

5.) Emma Pickles
The most inactive one of the bunch, this creator became most popular with her pop out comic book character tutorial. Her channel features mostly regular makeup tutorials, but the reason why I included her in this list is because when she does post SFX makeup tutorials or looks, they are amazing. It is genuinely fun to see what she turns herself into, and it is fun to follow along as well.
